Yagi Antennas for WiFi improvement
It is by far no secret anymore that wireless signal strength and reception of wireless signals can be optimized. Everyone knows the problem. Your wireless LANs signal strength at home is weak and the connection breaks down all the time. Often this is because of the fact that there are walls and other signal-disturbing objects between the transmitter and receiver. In the worst case these walls consist of reinforced concrete, which can have an extremely negative impact on wireless signals. Another problem may be that your neighbor has an access point which is sending on the same or nearby channel. Such overlaps in frequency result in interruptions or even complete signal losses.
There are a handful of solutions to this problem. First, there are wireless repeaters, which are used as bridges between the transmitter and receiver (Access Point and Client). They increase your signal strength and distance. The cost of such an installation is relatively high and the configuration cumbersome.
It is much better to take a signal-boosting antenna. The antenna can be either attached to the Access Point or to the client. Since the signal propagation of the antenna is usually focused in one direction, it is advisable to mount the antenna on the client.
There are different types of antennas, but the best results are obtained with a Yagi antenna. Such antennas are not only perfect for the 2.4 GHz frequency band, but they can be easily configured and installed. With a USB WiFi Yagi Antenna it is even possible, to connect it directly into an empty USB Port on your antenna and you don't have to worry about external antenna cables and connections.
If you don't want to spend any money on professional gear, there is the possibility to build your own antenna. Most times the results of building your own aren't satisfying. Also it will take a lot of your time and will be difficult to connect to your laptor or PC.
In other words, to increase the signal strength and quality of your WLAN installation, the best idea is to purchase a yagi antenna at an online store. You will be happy with the result!
